Et Clash mellem realisme og den artificielle verden er i fokus når jeg udtrykker mig i mit foretrukne medie, maleriet.
Historierne finder deres egen vej i vor samtid og i mødet med min skitsebog forvrænges fortællingen. En påbegyndt historie overspilles via mødet med det fremmede univers, og fortællingen bliver ofte helt skæv, vild, naiv eller absurd. Og det er præcis derhen jeg sigter.
Gråtoner mod dynamiske farver accentuerer de kontrasterende fortællinger og spændinger jeg arbejder med. En kontrast eller selvmodsigelse der sigter mod humor og forargelse. Forhåbentlig farer beskueren vild, bliver forarget, eller bryder ud i latter ...

REVIEW OF THOMAS BOSSEL’S PAINTINGS
Perusing Thomas Bossel’s website, “Puzzle”, I was impressed with his ability to absorb several styles of art, including US Pop mixed with a strong dose of Danish humor. Demark has always had freedom of expression in the press and the arts and Thomas’s humor, although sometimes dark and perhaps even satirical, is a joy to see.
I viewed eight of his original paintings that express the themes mentioned above, such as (my titles) “Yellow Tent in the Snow”, “Caution ; Wet Paint” and “Fishing”. Thomas’s painting, “Flamingos’s “ has elements of Surrealism, displaying caricatures of humans with birdlike legs and a flock of pink flamingos in the background. “Playroom” shows a child surrounded by toys that may not be all that fun to play with.
“Soft Mouse”, illustrates a soft toy that looks more menacing than huggable.
In sum, I would love to view Thomas Bossel’s painting firsthand at V58, but I guess I’ll just have to wait until he has a show in the United States. I hope he is as successful at designing buildings as he is at painting. But beware, if you enter one of Thomas’s architectural designs, like entering a print by M. C. Escher, you may find the jokes on you. You may end up like Alice in wonderland, down the rabbit hole!
